Thank you guys for the fast answers. I was thinking that it was placed there as a seal, like in the picture above and should be removed so the ram memories to be connected. So I guess it only matters if the gold pins are connected in their place

Hello I want to upgrade my ram on Asus x550vx laptop but I found some kind of black tape in the spot. I put my memory in and the laptop recognised it so my question is should I remove the tape? I think if it would overheat, it will melt and mess my motherboard.

Update: I done some more research and it's nither the CPU nor the GPU, so what else would require a heat sink?

So I was planning to play some FIFA and my Asus x550vx laptop shut down with a metal burn smell. Now it won't turn on. I localised the area that I believe it's broken but I don't know which component it is.the silver Square in the bottom left(or maybe it's from the little things a little...
