Question Upgraded GPU and PSU and can't get system to boot

Yes PSU switched on and off multiple times. Theoretically I know how to install everything on a new motherboard. Theoretically I also knew how to do a simple PSU and GPU replacement as well lol.

Question Upgraded GPU and PSU and can't get system to boot

Appreciate the help. I knew the original psu that came with the pc was a piece of crap, and the 24 pin connector was not smooth to remove like the corsair one. Probably damaged a pin on the way out. That's the risk of buying pre-built I guess. My concern is I have no confidence in replacing...

Question Upgraded GPU and PSU and can't get system to boot

Just reconnected the power pins and nothing. Trying the old psu without GPU. Just confirm, the front panel draws its power from the motherboard? It doesn't need its own psu connection.

Question Upgraded GPU and PSU and can't get system to boot

Ya I'm connected to the GPU display port, but when I say doesn't turn on I mean like the thing is a brick. The psu fan doesn't even turn on, hard drive doesn't make a sound, etc.

Question Upgraded GPU and PSU and can't get system to boot

I can try that. Wouldn't the motherboard still boot to bios even if the gpu wasn't working though?

Question Upgraded GPU and PSU and can't get system to boot

i9-10850k EVGA GTX 3080 MSI Z590 Pro 16GB Ballistix DDR4 RAM Corsair 850rx Going to try plugging the old PSU back in and seeing If I get a boot. That would at least determine if it was the 24 pin on the new cable that wasnt working I guess?

Question Upgraded GPU and PSU and can't get system to boot

Old PSU was not modular. All cables are from the new PSU.

Question Upgraded GPU and PSU and can't get system to boot

Last year during peak pandemic I finally just bought a prebuilt system since it was impossible to get a graphics card. A year later I finally got a hit on the EVGA queue I was in for a 3080, so decided I would just grab it and give the old one to a friend. The prebuilt had a pretty...

Question New PC - Games are crashing like the GPU is overheated even while temps seem fine.

Just to note as well. I underclocked to 950v and was much more stable, played for over an hour without a crash, but then I got the same issue. Eventually may have passed a threshold and power spiked. Ill give them a call but them replacing the PSU with the same model probably isnt going to do...

Question New PC - Games are crashing like the GPU is overheated even while temps seem fine.

Damn, yep a Cyberpower. PSU was the only component who's brand I wasn't confident in. Thought I'd roll the dice but the issue does seem consistent with the PSU just crapping out on high performance.

Question New PC - Games are crashing like the GPU is overheated even while temps seem fine.

I'm wondering if the factory overclock is too high. I dont know how to find out what the base overlock speed is though to try and underclock it to more standard settings.

Question New PC - Games are crashing like the GPU is overheated even while temps seem fine.

An Apevia ATXPR 800W which appears to be Gold certified. Never heard of the brand before but unless it's really crappy 800w should be more than enough no? I was planning on buying a 750W when I was going to build it myself.

Question New PC - Games are crashing like the GPU is overheated even while temps seem fine.

So I finally caved and just got a prebuilt pc with a GTX 3070 since it had been 6 months of trying to find a graphics card with no luck. The build quality seemed pretty good when I set it up yesterday. I tested it out on some intensive games like Cyberpunk and RDR 2 and was pretty impressed...
