Even now in 2015 the i5 2500k is a fantastic quad core chip (all the intel quad cores since sandybridge are fantastic gaming cpu's) and unless you want something for intensive video editing i would stick with the i5 2500k. To answer your question directly, NO, it shouldn't bottleneck the gtx970...

I know that a 3.0 card is backwards compatible with 2.0 slots but what i want to know is this.....the card i'm looking at getting msi gtx750ti doesn't have any pci-e power ports so will the 2.0 slot provide enough power to the card, given my existing card msi gtx460oc requires two power connectors??
