Discussion PSU recommendations and power supply discussion thread - Tom's hardware

Hi, I don't understand why Nvidia is recommending 650+ W PSU for RTX 30 series when for example RTX 3070 has one 8-pin and total system power draw is not even 300 W while gaming... I have two 450W PSU. One of them is Corsair SF450 and other one Seasonic G-450 (both are gold rated). I am pretty...

    [SOLVED] Is Intel Core i7 9700F a good option from price/performance p.o.v.?

Alright, after a bit of research I think I let it be for now. 9th generation is cca 20% IPC slower than 11th but that one has problems to sustain performance on most affordable B560 MBs. Game performance varies from 8 - 14% depending on game. It is not a huge deal, but I don't like when MB is...

    [SOLVED] Is Intel Core i7 9700F a good option from price/performance p.o.v.?

Sorry guys, yes I am fully aware that I will need new MB, I already found one (TUF B365M) which might suit me. Didn't mention it because it didn't come to my mind. I am completely aware of MB and RAM stuff. I just need to know if it isn't a stupid idea to buy Core i7 from 2019 (new) for 200...

    [SOLVED] Is Intel Core i7 9700F a good option from price/performance p.o.v.?

TL;DR - Core i7 9700F for 205 euro (250 USD with tax already). Is it a good deal? Hi guys. Currently I am using i5 6400, 8 GB RAM and RX 470 for my 1080p gaming. This is system from late 2016. I was thinking about upgrading it. I was always leaned towards good price-to-performance ratio and...

Any thoughts on my budget gaming PC?

Yeah, okay... just that power supply sucks. The most basic PSU I would put in any system is Corsair CX450, EVGA 500B or a Seasonic SS-500ET. Nothing less. Power supply is the heart of your system, it pumps electricity to all your components. Throw away that crap and get yourself something...

    RX 480 or GTX 1060?

By a pure performance these card are neck'n neck. But I vote for Radeon RX 580. Why? Extra 33% more GB of VRAM and there's better chance that you might have Freesync monitor than G-Sync. The only disadvantage of RX 580 is power efficiency. And usually Radeon cards have that mystical "Fine Wine...

asus strix RX 570 4gb vs Zotac gtx 1060 3gb

Well that's the question... GeForce GTX 1060 is the more powerfull graphics card (even in 3 GB VRAM version) than Radeon RX 570. On the other hand, Zotac has very basic model with only one fan and there's nothing fancy about it. And those 3 GB of VRAM omg... what did Nvidia think of? Asus Strix...

    Intel HD Graphics 5500 question

If you're running recent games on integrated graphics, you have to use RAM in dual-channel. Open your laptop and check if you have two RAM sticks installed. The other problem is your CPU. Clocks set on 2,0 GHz are too low for any decent gaming.

    Gta v support??

It won't be playable. Those specs are way too weak.

Windforce 750 ti 4gb power consumption

I have used the official Gigabyte site for information. It says 400 W recommended PSU. http://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N75TOC-2GI#ov

Windforce 750 ti 4gb power consumption

Fairly low. TDP for this card is 60 W. The whole system consumption with GTX 750 Ti is no more than 200 W. Officially recommended power supply is 400 W unit.

Help me upgrade to a compatible GPU

Hi, I would say try Radeon RX 480/580. Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB is over the limit and 3 GB version is not worth it. Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 4 GB costs around 240 euros. I has new, thick and more efficient cooler. Also MSI Gaming X edition is great. Choose the one with better price in your...

When graphics card connected pc not starting

There's absolutely no reason to put junk as GeForce GT 610 in your computer. Don't know how old that Core i3 is, but I would say even the integrated GPU is better than this. Plus it seems it's dead.

Can I set an optical drive out in the open?

Optical drive must be connected to motherboard and power supply. Leave the case open and put the drive next to it while OS is installed. Mechanical HDDs are pretty sensitive, do not put anything on it.
