I use Adobe photo suite which includes a RAW file processor called Bridge. It claims to use GPU acceleration and is detected by the program as it is displayed in the "preferences" section. The GPU does show in "device manager".

Thanks for these comments. I had wondered about updating the BIOS as the one I have is several updates behind and I notice that one update does mention improved DIMM handling. I will give that a try.
