An interesting article but 12 years from now is a long time in the computer world. It could very well be that something new completely replaces SSDs. I would actually be surprised that something doesn't replace it.
The main reason I love steam is no CDs. Like others said, no more worries about lost or broken CDs. I rebuild the computer, no worries. I'll download and install again from Steam.
Good deals of course too.
Someone needs to win the damn browser war once and for all. Such a pain in the ass to code for all the different browsers out there when building a website.
I'm not against wifi-direct but I do have one concern about it. With that more many devices using wifi such as keyboards, mouse etc, won't there be to many signals in an area? Causing a slow down in data transfers?
Some of the observations I've had over the years is anti-virus software from various companies can go up and down in quality. It's something a person almost needs to read constant reviews on to see what's the best one at that time. So for example if you buy one with a 1 year subscription and...
I love the line in the article that says "AT&T and RaySat created an "affordable" package for the general consumer ". That cracked me up since it's listed for $1299 plus a $28 month service fee.
Don't think BB isn't hurting either. They're getting ready to do another round of layoffs at their HQ. (this is after the buy out option given to employees a month ago). On a side note, BB suffers from incompetent managers as well and have made there fair share of huge financial mistakes.

I bought BioShock through Steam and I didn't have to deal with this DRM/SECUROM crap.
That's one thing great about buying games online through outfits like Valve Steam as no CD is...
Often wodered this topic. Seems like a waste though as most cable modems have a few ports to plug into. I noticed on my motherboard that has two nics is that one can go up to 1gps will the other can only go up to 100mps.

It wasn't obvious to me after reading the specs but the 5200B has 5 drives in it.
Can you install just 4 drives and enable raid 5 and add a 5th drive later on without a big hassle of moving data off and back on for a rebuild?

I currently have a server at home and it houses 4 drives in it and does raid 5. Pretty happy with it but the raid is filling up.
I'm interested in creating another raid 5 of some sorts and using a device instead of doing another server setup would be great.
Looking around it wasn't obvious...
