    Finally found the solution. Its all ATI, the Catalyst Driver & the annoying feature called Varibright. Disabling Varibright thru the Catalyst Control Center fixed the auto-brightness issue. Here is more info... http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD2503BA0001R01.htm
