Greetings! :)

Please advice me on purchasing RAID cards for Windows Server 2008 boxes with existing HD's that need to be mirrored, without erase operations.

Ideally, I am hoping to setup RAID 0 with all the current OS/files intact. My research has led me to the following cards that fall within budget & offer the desired functionality.

Vantec RAID card

Ultra Raid card

Thoughts? :??: Fire away please....

Many thanks.

Well, I have not had any replies on this post, so I figured I might just add whatever I am proceeding with so far...

It is the Vantec UGT-ST310R Raid card that is most likely the right candidate for the job that I am intending. The reason is that in the User manual has listed a process that shows how to Raid-0 with existing HD's & not have to erase/format.

Here the link to the manual for any references.

I think that you are mistaken. In the instructions for RAID 0 it states: "This RAID array to be used on New/Blank
hard drives. Striping will destroy existing data on the hard drive."

To make a RAID 0 array with existing data on one of the drives, you'll have to backup all of the data on the drive before setting up the RAID array, and then restore from the backup when the array has been completed.
