    $650 Build Advice

I was a little nervous about the power supply. Does this Antec look better? I’ll definitely look into getting that cooler when the time comes; thanks for the link. I am willing to either upgrade to an SLI motherboard or upgrade to the 1GB 460, but I really can’t afford/justify doing both...

    $650 Build Advice

Thanks for the input. I’ll keep an eye out for the 560’s but what I’m reading seems to indicate it will be about $80 outside my price-range. Maybe it’ll come out and lower the prices on the old ones a little, though. Thanks again. The stock cooler input is very reassuring.

    $650 Build Advice

Hey all, After switching to a G51JX-X2 laptop for a while and then deciding I missed having a desktop I’ve decided to sell it and start a new build. It’s been a while since I built a machine, though, so I figured I would ask for some help. Here’s what I have so far: CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K –...

what should temps be for 6800gt

No big deal, temps like that are normal, for Eskimos...

what should temps be for 6800gt

A bigger case would do a lot for you, although you could just take a side off your computer and use the side as a fan. That's what I did. It builds arm strenght... Seriously, though 91 degrees celsius is HOT! 195.8 degrees fahrenheit... It might not do too much to the video cards performance...

    6800 GT oc

I get that too with my 6800LE, I think it's just pushing the card beyond what it's able. Although I can push mine to 365 before I get that... Use Rivatuner to keep a log of your temps, you might learn something there... What bothers me is that the freezing seems like it would be more of a RAM...

    optimize for battlefield2

That's not likely to happen. The problem is that the high quality textures are HUGE files relative to the low quality ones. I haven't actually looked at the file size, but judging from the fact that it's a 3 CD game, I'd have to guess and say they're pretty big. That in itself is a load on the...

    optimize for battlefield2

I've done a lot of research into BF2. What I've discoverd is that you don't (unlike what everyone here says) NEED 2GB. You really only need 1.5GB. The game uses at most 1.2GB, so unless you have Norton running, you should be fine with RAM. I recommend you pick up another 512MB stick on Newegg...

    6800LE Pipelines

Well, I've decided against the volt mod for now. If in a year or 2 I discover that it would help my performance then I will consider it. Right now I am getting enough performance to run America's Army 1280x1024 full textures/shaders and 4x/8x AA/AF respectively. I can also put games like...

    6800LE Pipelines

A volt mod. I've read some things that lead me to believe taht may not be entirely safe... Wha's the maximum safe voltage on tis card? I really don't want to fry it. The other thing I want to try to do is shut down a vertex shader and then try turning on the pixel pipeline. I have heard of...

    6800LE Pipelines

Hey, I recently purchased a Leadtech 6800LE. I unlocked all the pipelines and got serious artifacts. I am stable at 12x1, 6vp. In 3dmark05 I score 3928. Now, I have a couple questions. Is there any way (the hardware mod I read about, for example) that I can open up the extra pipeline? Is...

    Graphic cards?

Ick??? The MX 440 is by far the best card I have ever owned. It is WAY better then the crappy FX5600. I can still run the Quake 3 gaming arena (Actually it's JK II and EF II, but they run the same thing.) and Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield, at the highest detail levels with little to no lag. It is...

    Graphic cards?

Exactly the answer I was looking for. Basically, will I, in 8 months, not be able to play games because I have OpenGL 2? You answered perfectly. Thank you all. Come the computer show, (in January) I will be looking for one of the three cards listed above.

    Graphic cards?

Good question. I want this card to last at least a year, preferably two or more. (I'll keep it as long as I can.) If I get OpenGL 1.5, will I get to the point where it won't work with games? If I can get 2.0, should I go for it because it will last longer?

    Graphic cards?

Thank you. I assume that OpenGL 1.5 will be sufficient?
