What is the difference between an OS running in VMWare and in a physical system.Can we perform very thing in VMWare as updating,installation,gaming etc. -

Dual Boot computer
I have a lap with 4 GB ram, Ci5 intel,500 gb HDD .Is this configuration ideal for dual booting my system pre installed with windows.I would like to dual boot Ubuntu and Win 7.Is there any error issues probable??
