Power efficient, small form factor home server

Hey guys, i want to have a home server powerful enough to run apache, php and mysql, to be able to torrent and stream media from it, but i don't want it to be big, and don't want it to be power-hungry either. The storage is not a problem, i can connect it to a NAS or an external drive. Do you...

    Skylake and motherboards question

Unless you're planning to add multiple GTX 980 [3-way or even 4-way sli], there shouldn't be any problem. GTX 980 should achieve its maximum potential on a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot.

    Skylake and motherboards question

The thing about skylake is that only high-end boards will appear at first. If you have around $200 to pay for a motherboard, i say go for it, but if you're on a tight budget, you should settle for upgrading your current build. GTX 980 should work fine on that board, however you might want to...

Need some help with a potential motherboard issue.

When you say surge i suppose you mean power surge, and when you say welcome screen, i suppose you mean the OS's welcome screen? If the signal goes out when in the OS's welcome screen, try reinstalling. If the motherboard was damaged, i doubt it would be working at all.

ALL USB 3,.0 ports not working

Most motherboards require special drivers for USB 3.0, and usually these drivers don't get downloaded via Windows Update. So you'll have to visit the motherboard producer's website and download the appropriate drivers [link below] or install them from the CD you got with the motherboard...

http://wccftech.com/asrock-unveils-lga-1151-socketed-motherboard-featuring-support-6th-generation-skylake-processors/ The first LGA 1151 motherboard has been revealed, and it will support both the DDR3 and DDR4 types of memory. However, PCI-E 3.0 is backwards compatible, and you can run a PCI-E...

Will the pascal gpus need a new type of motherboard design or can I build now and replace the gpu later?

The pascal architecture is announced for 2016, and yes, will require special motherboards to run it. That said, a newly released GPU and a newly released motherboard [which will probably be high-end] will not come cheap. If you do have a lot of money for such a PC, hold onto them until both the...

    Sound card problem ?

If it isn't a software problem [not likely], you must've damaged the sound card. A PCI soundcard isn't that expensive, you could buy one, or lend one from a friend just to test it.

Untraceably wipe HDD or SSD content

Hello, i know that experts in data recovery can recover files from wiped out or even severly damaged HDDs, and i was wondering what would it take to truly destroy the data on a HDD. What about an SSD? Also, is there any process that would not render the storage unusable?
