That's true. I did notice that the memory would be limited by the CPU but it seemed to be the cheapest option at the time anyway.

You're absolutely right. I do have a gfx card (Radeon RX580) . Plugged that in and it worked. 🤦‍♂️ I took it out earlier when I first had a problem with the install. Thought it would work without whilst I worked out if the CPU/Mobo/RAM was all ok.
