Definitely H97 will be a good pick. U may also go for mAtx board if you dont require extra options which you might not use. Gigabyte & ASUS are good brands. I use Gigabyte GA H97M D3H and no complaints.

Both will not perform better in LATEST games :P 1st pc seems to have R9 270. So i would say it has a slight advantage over the other.

First of all, you don't need i7 for gaming.. Its value to go for an i5 processor. 4590 or 4690 You might have to get a 1150 Mobo such as H97 or Z97 for upgrade purpose.

You may try gigabyte boards as they come under budget and are reliable too. If u require LGA1150 ATX, then try H97 chipsets. If u want to go with mATX, then try B85M or H97M chipsets.
