Can you confirm that your BIOS version is F20 or better? Just to make sure your CPU is compatible with the motherboard's current BIOS.

If you haven't done it yet, I would change back you setting in the BIOS as they were before and see if they remains there. If they do not revert back again, then it might just have been a hiccup and you can keep your fingers crossed that it remains that way. On the other hand, if after a while...

Okay, that definitely sounds like there is a short in this computer, and that is most likely the cause of all the symptoms that you see. At this point, my only advise would be to bring that laptop to a repair shop.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. It was pretty clear that the problem was with the keyboard itself. You might want to try to clean your keyboard, but cleaning a laptop keyboard is tricky at best as it require to remove the keys (without breaking them) to do so. Worse thing is that you're not even sure...

windows update does not change BIOS settings, ever. For some reasons, your BIOS got reset and you should be looking for the reason it has, as this might indicate a hardware problem. Even if this happened roughly at a time you've got a Windows update, it is not related.
