    Can you confirm that your BIOS version is F20 or better? Just to make sure your CPU is compatible with the motherboard's current BIOS.

    If the total does not add up, go to Resource Monitor instead of Task Manager as it shows hidden processes as well; in the memory tab, click on the header of the Working Set column to sort the processes by their RAM usage and see what's using your RAM

    To be fair though, I'm sure this computer is still fine for basic computing such as web browsing and office work, but for gaming... especially using the iGPU, I'm not surprise at all that the OP sees a noticeable drop in FPS just by updating from 1511 to 2004.

    Okay, that definitely sounds like there is a short in this computer, and that is most likely the cause of all the symptoms that you see. At this point, my only advise would be to bring that laptop to a repair shop.

    windows update does not change BIOS settings, ever. For some reasons, your BIOS got reset and you should be looking for the reason it has, as this might indicate a hardware problem. Even if this happened roughly at a time you've got a Windows update, it is not related.
