When you say the monitor isn't coming on, you mean it won't power on, or it does and it displays something like "no signal".

Ram compatibility is tricky. The rams could have matching size, speeds,voltages, cas latency and work in theory, but you can't be sure until you try. Most people will tell you that it's a bad idea to mix ram sticks and you are better off buying identical rams.
