Getting error 10016 before every crash
Ever since I installed a new sound card this has been happening.
Tried some registry "fixing" software but it did not help.
Please help!

I'm pretty sure all of my drivers are up to date. I'm wondering if something else is causing this, yet error 10016 is the only thing that shows in the event viewer before a crash. I have to hard reset my system, no bueno.
Deleted the regedit software and got a refund as well.

I might try "this option"
But it says this error shouldn't be causing a freeze? Event viewer shows no hardware fails, at all, ever

If none of the above works, the "go-to" step is usually booting your pc in safe mode to see if the issue persists.

Tried the registry edit so far....so good. No freezes. Still getting a 10016 error but its for something different now, not the one that seemed to be freezing the OS. If this keeps up for a few days I'll let you know.

Why does crap like this happen? Why can't Windows fix stuff like this itself?

Can you single out the instances that it happens? Like a pattern? If not remove the soundcard and see if the issue persists. If it doesn't install the card into another pc to see if it happens there as well. If it does RMA the card.

make sure the mb has the newest bios file on it. look at the mb user guild see if the pci slot for the sound card is using the irq or memory for the video card slot. if it is try moving the sound card if you can. if the rig running out of irq turn off the serial and printer ports also in the bios turn off the onboard sound.

This is a bit old but the issue was the POS sound card Audigy I installed.

Creative had the balls to tell me the card was fine too. Never buying a Soundblaster again

Solution - Don't buy Soundblasters
