    Athlon 7850BE

That's the thing. Right now, my CPU temp reading is 52C, while both Core temps are 33C each. I don't know which one to pay more attention to when looking at the readings.

    Athlon 7850BE

So should I be concerned more with the CPU temp reading or the actual Core 1 and 2 temp readings?

    Athlon 7850BE

I am using that as well. The CPU temp is 51-52C idle and gets to 61-63C max while running 3dMark Vantage two or three times in a row. The Core temps are 32-33 idle and get maxed at 41-43C under 3dMark Vantage tests.

    Athlon 7850BE

I recently upgraded my computer with an Athlon X2 7850BE. I am using the stock HSF. I am concerned about the operating temperature on this thing. PCWizard 2009 shows a CPU temp of 56C, while it shows a Core #1 temp of 37C. On startup, the BIOS usually shows 51C for CPU temp. Also, when I check...

QOTD: What Was Your First Computer?

My first was a Packard Bell in 1993. It had a 486 66MHz, which we later upgraded with an overdrive chip to 133MHz. It had 4MB of RAM and a 128 Megabyte hardrive and a cd-rom drive and ran Windows 3.11. I remember upgrading the memory to 8MB and later 24MB (I had to have 8MB to play Doom). The...

Nvidia: Expect x86 Processor in 2-3 Years

AMD can produce x86 chips because of an arbitration case where as a remedy for Intel's breach of a contract, the arbitrator granted AMD a perpetual, royalty-free license to x86 patents, as well as any technology patents belonging to Intel obtained through reverse engineering. Anyone else making...

Vizio HDTVs to be Super "Connected"

Also, I got my 32" 1080P set for the same price as twisted politiks, and I got it the first weekend of the new year.

Vizio HDTVs to be Super "Connected"

I also have a 32" Vizio that does 1080P. It has a beautiful picture. I was a little skeptical of the 1080P spec at this size, but I can see the difference over the 720P. It seems to have a slightly extra level of detail in the picture. High Definition video and gaming looks great. People...

Will My power supply work on this 3850 card?

Check out Antec's website. They have a power supply configurator that will roughly tell you how much power you need based on the components in your system. Then you can search on newegg for a power supply that will give you some power headroom over what you actually use. Unless you are...

Which was your first GPU? :)

The first one I had in a system was in an old Packard Bell that came with an Ati Mach 64. I remember upgrading that 66Mhz CPU to a 133Mhz overdrive, and was blown away by the increase in speed it brought. The first upgrade card that I got was a Creative Labs 3D Blaster Banshee 16MB. It is...

    New Build for my brother

I will check on the CPU cooling. IIRC, you may be right. Tom's had a good one in their $500 build, and it was only 15, I will let him know about that one. And, I will inform him of the 8800GS. I think you are right in that it is very close to the 9600GT, so it would save a few bucks to get...

    New Build for my brother

Well, he already has a case from my old computer that I gave him. It is an older Antec case, very solid, with a couple of extra fans in it for him as well. He might buy a new case, but I think he is set on using the one he already has. If he does decide on a new case, I have read in a review...
