sounds like a motherboard or ram compatibility issue to me. The ram the dell uses is ddr3-1333 and the ram that you have may have issues being it a dell motherboard - asus not a problem nor gigabyte but dell boards are odd at the best of times and are no where near as flexible

remove one of the rams, if that don't work, replace it with the other. What power supply is it. Does It have the cpu power lead connected. Its not that the motherboard wont connect to monitor its the motherboard that is not posting. It could be the cpu is not seated properly, or unfortunately...

Have you tried updating the motherboards bios... There may be an issue with this processor which needs a bios update. As we do not know what motherboard you have we can not verify what bios you need

Well im supprised the hard disk is ok, a metre is not a good height to drop any laptop.... You may have dislodged some dust in to the fan or even the fan housing a little so it may not be spinning as good... I would get a technician to look at it as far as you !

The 386, the 486 was just a 386 with a maths co processor built in... remember when autocad machines had to have the maths co processor added... Now that was a game changer - it was the first desktop 32bit processor from intel.. How long has 32 bit software lingered and they stopped making...

DVD Drives do go wrong, so dont be supprised if it hasnt.. Optical drives are far cheaper than they used to be, i remember buying a hp cd writer for over £700 now they cost around £20 for a dvd writer.. Also as things are made so cheap now some are going to fail... In anycase i dont feel its...

Not trying to gloat here but wasnt it a few years back I was on about Intel beating AMD with onboard graphics..... All you AMD Fanbois were banging on about how Intel will never beat AMD with onboard graphics.... I rest my case.... Intel has something that AMD dont... Billions in the bank .....

AMD Based all its fortunes on the Athlon 64..... The only real thing AMD has got going for it is the ownership of the x64 design. Maybe Intel should just buy AMD for a song and own that patent too, but hey who knows it might be too late by then as Microsoft is certainly not the firm it was...
