Question I'm looking for a Taskbar replacement / supplementary calendar app ?

I'm hoping somebody has found what I need and can point me in the right direction... I've spent quite some time scouring Github and other sources including the Dread MS Store using all sorts of google trickery to try refine my search but I have clearly failed miserably after a couple 100 meg of...

Question SHORTCUT KEYS - How to use "windows key" for manually assigned shortcuts?

In a nutshell...game tries to stuff in more than is possible, has a fit, shuts down. There is no option to "unload" in certain situations to make space for the incoming data, although with Server Meshing coming in soon...hopefully it alleviates this. Google "Star Citizen event gameplay" and...

Question SHORTCUT KEYS - How to use "windows key" for manually assigned shortcuts?

i take it you haven't played SC... ,,,its THE benchmark for gaming now. You need 24 to play for a few hours without drama. 16 you're 100% going to crash every other hour. 32gb users even get the dread memory boot at times when areas are poluted with wrecks etc. Tad off subject, but there you go...

Question SHORTCUT KEYS - How to use "windows key" for manually assigned shortcuts?

Because i like to minimise everything where possible, while im sure my rig will be fine...in my experience application Y's use of X while application A is doing B....but then needs X, boom boom fizz now its all on fire. Also even with a 24gb RAM system, Star Citizen will occasionally crash out...

Question SHORTCUT KEYS - How to use "windows key" for manually assigned shortcuts?

Hallo People who theoretically know more than me. One can assign manually created Shortcuts to open using (almost) any key combination by going into the properties window of said shortcut. In the case of my Win10 Desktop Shortcut to Charmap.exe, I'm currently using CTRL+ALT+C as seen on the...

Question Is it my GPU? Running out of ideas to troubleshoot games crashing

First thought is the evil that is Win10/11 being bloated and having fits. Second obvious thought is something is dying. Seeing as you have fixed the problem for now (btw mark as solved :] ), the above posts do set you up for a bit of preventative maintenance but I'd go further. Bracing for...

Question Which motherboard is the best out of these 3 for i5 13600k/14600k?

I have a different order altogether. I build PC's sourced from local importers in South Africa: MSI - Never had a single MSI unit fail ever, and its cheaper than the ASUS with nearly the same features (Extra PCI, +5 USB, has a PS/2 port, -1 Fan Headers, 4800Mhz RAM) ASUS - The best overall PC...

Discussion GPU Lifespans - Experiences over theory

I'd specifically like to have people share their complete hardware failures from age alone I couldn't find any official MTBF(Mean Time Between Failures) on major GPU's in the past decade out there, so lets presume a daily usage of at least 4hrs at maximum operating temperatures and that you...

    Question Upgrading RAM question

As stated above, you cannot use DDR5 in a DDR3 motherboard...so... Check your local second hand outlets, be they actual stores that resell customers upgraded components, or newspaper/online/facebook market or whatever. First, however, you need to confirm if you CAN upgrade your RAM. Your...

Question SSD OS - Tertiary Mechanical HDD access slows entire system

WD = Western Digital, all benchmarks, performance tests, SMART records etc are as they should be. There is no hardware fault, and the drive functions without misbehaviour in a second identical system (apart form more memory and a differetn nVidia GPU). Well I think I've found it. Its seems to...

Question SSD OS - Tertiary Mechanical HDD access slows entire system

..I think through my walls of text you missed the bit where I was saying the problem does not occur in an identical sister PC (same motherboard etc) with that drive plugged in. So its either BIOS or Software... I mean it could still be Hardware and it just didnt roll the dice badly, but....my...

Question RTX 4080, 4090, or wait for the 4080 Super? Will be doing a water loop at the same time

COOLER QUESTION: Personally I find the liquid cooling systems a hassle. What is not told to you is you will need to maintain that system, requiring amazingly complicated trickery for the average user to cycle cleaning solutions and top up the distilled water (much like old car batteries really)...

Question RTX 4080, 4090, or wait for the 4080 Super? Will be doing a water loop at the same time

Firstly, I presume you meant 7680x4320...unless you have a bloody great big cellphone screen you are playing on....hehehe SO! It all depends on your financial situation vs your level of OMG ITS SHINY Syndrome. You do not mention what you are currently utilising, so I'm going to guess a 30xx...

Question SSD OS - Tertiary Mechanical HDD access slows entire system

I swopped the functional drives cables out already ya, no difference. I forgot to mention that as well as putting it in a near identical rig, my testing server, only difference is no M2 and 1650GT GPU and 64gb 3200ghz RAM.... ...benchmarks it flies, I can even leave it doing zip compression...

Question SSD active time stuck at 100% in Task Manager, slows the entire pc down

....to help see this properly, click the READ column heading, the actual word "read" to sort it. Obviously trying to end up with highest number on top. Do the same for Write if Read is marginal number (under 100kb is marginal/negligable) Furthermore, I highly recommend right clicking...
