Yea SLI 980 setup is pretty exspensive so I recommend a SLI 970 setup or even a r9 295x2 is perfectly fine and you can still get great performance.

You can't Crossfire/SLI radeon cards with Nvidia brand cards you can purchase the same card and crossfire it to get a performance but it wont work with crossing series and amd/nvidia. So you would need another GTX 980 to SLI it if you a powerful enough power supply which you do.

Well that ram is being sold as a kit so, yes you would feel a change in performance due to it being same brand RAM and same clock speeds of ram. If you do end up purchasing that ram be sure to install it correctly. Hope this helped your issue with your RAM.
