System to support an Intrusion Detection System server with 300 mbps throughput

I would ideally like a fanless SFF box with 2 NICs and a CPU (+ enough RAM, etc) powerful enough to support an IDS (I plan to run Snort) with 300 mbps of bandwidth. I'll sacrifice the fanless and SFF if necessary but in that case I want as cheap as possible! Suggestions, anyone? Thanks in...

Oops! I need a modular power cable from FirePower ZT Series 750W 80Plus Bronze to SAPPHIRE 100355-1GOCL

Should I get one of the 6+2 pin connectors then - would that cover both possibilities?

Oops! I need a modular power cable from FirePower ZT Series 750W 80Plus Bronze to SAPPHIRE 100355-1GOCL

Thanks so much for answering the question. I'm wondering - on the GPU side, are you confident that I need an 8-pin connector? I can't find the manual for the card and don't know enough about video cards to assess the situation.

Oops! I need a modular power cable from FirePower ZT Series 750W 80Plus Bronze to SAPPHIRE 100355-1GOCL

I built a PC back in 2012 using the FirePower ZT Series 750W 80Plus Bronze PSU. In the interval since then I've managed to lose or misplace the bag containing the extra modular cables that came with it. This week, my main PC that I've had since 2009 had its innards fried, and I want to use the...

You Can Now Run Full Linux Apps Inside A Chrome OS Window

The main motivation for doing this, for me, is to obtain access to my Samba / DLNA servers to my Chromebook. It's kind of crazy that I can't use the 'thin client' chromebook as a thin client to a standard media server! Until I saw this I've had to download my .mkv files before playing them...

Will Microsoft Office outlook 2003 run on windows 7

This is not a problem, at least not it its own right. There's lots of software that's 32-bit which runs quite smoothly on 64-bit Windows 7. In fact, most of my software on my 64-bit Windows system is 32-bit. Microsoft themselves assert that Office 2003 is 100% compatible with 64-bit Windows...

    64-bit Windows 7 and Dell Dimension E310

You're right on the 'ixnay on the irty-two bit-thay'...I now realize that the Intel 915GV never got Vista or Win7 drivers (of any kind - neither 32-bit or 64-bit) so a 32-bit install isn't a fix...

    64-bit Windows 7 and Dell Dimension E310

The same seems to be true for the 210 - an x16 card

    64-bit Windows 7 and Dell Dimension E310

The GeForce 610 is a PCI express x16 card so it won't work in the E310. I'm cheap and the E310 really meets all my needs except for the screen resolution. If there isn't a video card that will work I'd rather downgrade to Win7 32-bit. I'd appreciate any other ideas.

    64-bit Windows 7 and Dell Dimension E310

Hello folks! The onboard Intel graphics on the Dell Dimension E310 don't support 64-bit Windows 7 so it's just running in a low-res mode at the moment. The PC has only 3 PCI slots and one PCIe 1x slots. The power supply is only 230 watts. Does anyone have a recommendation for a graphics...

Temporary Job Site NAS/Cloud/Wifi in a box

I would think about what you really need to have on site. If you have a solid internet connection both at the worksite as well as back at your home office, you could access your stuff on your office's NAS remotely. You could secure the stuff via HTTPS and/or by setting up a VPN from your...

Looking for NAS advice (pre-built or scavenge?)

You can get away with using non-enterprise drives. The issue is that without the advanced reporting features in the enterprise drives (TLER? I don't really remember the details at this point and am too lazy on a Friday evening to look it up), if the drive is slow in responding, the NAS may...
