This worked for me. Go to your C: Drive/ program files/Nvidia Corporation/Control Panel Client/ Right Click nvcplui.exe/properties/compatibility/check, Run as Administrator.

Is updating you BIOS completley seperate from you Hard Disk and saved to the motherboard somehow and are the updates permanent?
