    Geforce 670

I've got a CoolerMaster HAF X case which seems to keep things pretty cool in general. I'll monitor the temps and fan speed on the MSI card and see how things work out. But like I said, I probably can't go wrong with either one of these cards. I had previously ordered a 7870 and I just sent...

    Geforce 670

By reference type coolers you mean the cooler in the EVGA and MSI cards? That's good to hear. Yeah it's better to give the MSI card a chance than to just send it back because one or two people like one card over the other, especially when both cards are this good. Anyway, it may turn out that...

    Geforce 670

Yeah I'll definitely give it a chance. Like I said earlier, I'm not planning on doing a ton of overclocking so the extra cooling of the Gigabyte may not be that big of a deal to me. Also both cards seem really powerful so I doubt there would be much of a performance difference between them...

    Geforce 670

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll probably keep it. I just didn't know if it was a big enough difference between the two to warrant waiting for the Gigabyte to come back in stock. I may try overclocking at some point but I'm probably not going to do any major overclocking anyway. I had read in one of...

    Motherboard Standoffs

Thanks everyone. I don't think I can get the last 1 or 2 standoffs in, because I can't lift the motherboard any more without possibly breaking it. It's probably fine, so maybe I'll just not worry about anything unless something comes up. I'm going from a core2 duo to the new Ivy Bridge i5...

    Geforce 670

Hello, Last week I purchased a GeForce 670 for my new build. I got the MSI brand (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127675), but I've been reading that a lot of people favor the Gigabyte brand instead (because of the better cooling for one). My card arrives tomorrow...

    Motherboard Standoffs

Hello, So I built a new computer the other day and when I went to install the motherboard, I didn't think about installing the standoffs first. Apparently the motherboard I'm using has two standoffs built in, so I just screwed on the screws in the other holes. After I realized that I had...

Hyper 212 Evo thermal paste application

Thanks for the info as well. I've decided to go with the Arctic Cooling MX-4 now, and I'm wondering if there are any other specific tips for applying that thermal paste to the 212 EVO? A lot of people have talked about spreading it but I'm worried about getting any air bubbles when I apply the...

Hyper 212 Evo thermal paste application

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I've thought about doing the line method with the arctic silver but I'm worried about putting too much with the line and having it spill out of the top and bottom of the CPU. I guess any of the methods can work well or not work well, depending on how you do it.

Hyper 212 Evo thermal paste application

I'm a little confused because the Arctic Silver 5 (which I plan on using) instructions state to apply the paste using the line method on the CPU. However, the Hyper 212 EVO instructions state to apply the paste uniformly across the cooler base itself (I'm a little worried about doing that in...

Hyper 212 Evo thermal paste application

Hello, I'm getting ready to build a new computer and the only thing that I really am nervous about is installing the Hyper 212 EVO onto the CPU (i5 3570). I've read a lot about the best way to apply thermal paste but I wanted to pick the community's brain one more time to see if anyone has...

    I5 3570 + Hyper 212 EVO?

Great to hear. I went with this board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130643 I'm glad to hear that you were able to overclock it. I'm hoping to try some overclocking myself after a while I think, which is why I bought the Hyper 212 EVO. When you installed the Hyper...

    I5 3570 + Hyper 212 EVO?

Thanks for the responses. I will most likely try overclocking at some point, and since the EVO will be much better than the stock cooler, I think I will stick with the EVO. I was just worried about how to install it with the right amount of thermal paste (i.e. do I need to fill any of the tiny...

    I5 3570 + Hyper 212 EVO?

OK thanks. So you're saying no applying paste to the EVO itself, just the processor? Thanks again!
