I agree in thinking that there is a hardware issue as the idle temps are around 70*c unless undervolted. Not sure I understand why it stops it from booting since I have to enable it after I've logged in. Shall have to look at finding parts to replace it then. Thanks for your help.

Just tried a CMOS clear removing the battery and switching the jumpers. Afterwards I tried booting with 1 stick of ram, the graphics card removed and the VGA connect to the onboard but no luck :/
