os should not have any effect. U typically boot into BIOS and then are prompted to put in a cd or something to install the os. nothing should be required. Still no luck?

If the computer was tested in the store with the on-board graphics card (the one built into the motherboard), it is quite possible that the BIOS is setup to start the computer with that gpu enabled. So the problem would be, the drivers etc. are not installed and the computer does not know to...

Oh, and check that your case connectors to the motherboard are lined up correctly. It's really easy to mess those up since they are so small. Probably not the problem, but yet one more thing you can check off the list!

Could be a lot of issues, have you tried taking the cpu out and putting it back in? Make sure the cpu cooler is fit tightly! One possibility could be that the cpu is reaching a high temp and forcing the computer to shutdown to prevent overheating. It is possible that the computer then restarts...

Forgot to put my conclusion on here. The SATA cables are not compatible with other power supplies. Pretty simple thing. I switched out the psu, but left the old SATA cables in. Put the new ones in and worked fine.

so decided to hook up the minitor and saw that the usb was causing a short. clipped the wire off the case and im down one usb 3 but my computer is working.
