After long battles with Paragon product suite, I realize my backup was actually made with Norton Ghost :-o
So i have restored that Win XP partition. And i am able to boot all 3 OS'es, but not from HDD grub. In other ways.
1. HDD grub
Went to HDD linux and ran update-grub. It did not find any...
Hey,
My PC multiboot = Linux, Win XP, Win 8.1; Bootloader = GRUB2
Recently the motherboard gave in; replaced it without issues for Linux and win 8.1, but on Win XP I had no keyboard or mouse. Also, in Win XP I only booted once in normal mode, tried then all the other safe modes, etc -...
Hello,
I was looking to fix this board, used for regular desktop activities without an issue, max was a quake2-ish game that kept the board at 65 deg C. No fan attached to its radiator; I have had it for 2 - 3 years second hand.
Recently while switching between browser tabs in a Win 8.1 the...
I think it happened on booting Win8.1.
I then rebooted, screen + peripherals remained turned off, no telltale beeps.
Hope I haven't burned another RAM :-/
Has anyone seen it before ?
Hello,
it was all working fine until today - I went for a car ride with the laptop running onthe passenger's seat, all fine, though I did use it (by resuming Windows on it) past its low-battery hibernations twice. Got home, went inside and plugged it in to the charger; tried to start it and...
The problem was at the connector at the mainboard. It was not broken, but loose. What I have done was to tuck in a plastic bit together with the ribbon cable into the connector's tray. The keyboard is now working.
Water that dripped right over the keyboard during the course of a few hours. About one third of the keys on a Toshiba laptop's built in keyboard are dead. Should I suspect
- an indentation that I have put in the ribbon cable with a screw while attempting to re-assemble the laptop
- individual...
Actually I have noticed that I did not connect the keyboard ribbon cable back to the mainboard :D. Done that and I was able to get past the "press enter to set date/time screen". Rebooted and it did not show up again. Also tested a mouse and an USB stick on the USB ports and they worked fine...
Hello,
This laptop has not been started some 2 weeks after the flood. After this time I have taken it apart, blew it dry with a hair drier and put it back together. Not much moisture left. Anyway, after attempting to boot it up I got this screen:
and no keyboard / touchpad input. Also tried...
Could be, I am geting USB "overcurrent detected" related to that area of the mobo. Just stumbled upon this other thread I have opened two years ago with the same problem - http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2739442/froze-pretty-dead.html
The solution was the same. i now got video output...
Hello,
I turn the computer it on, all beeps are as usual, HDDs start spinning, but: I am getting no video output to the screen and no USB connectivity (mouse & keyboard won't light up). I can still charge a phone through the USB ports though.
How it came about - recently one HDD failed on me...
Uhm.. took out the RAM modules, put them back in and what do you know... it revived. But it probably doesn't have much life left in it. Is there any way I could keep my Linux and Windows OS installations after switching to another (different brand) motherboard ?
Thanks!
