First Official AMD Radeon R9 290X Benchmarks
290X is to compete with Titan, not the 780. So the fact that AMD's brand new flagship only beats nVidia second tier flagship by 3-4 FPS and the 780 is now over 6 months old... Not impressed. :/- kid-mid

What power supply? I'd start with a clean driver install of the latest driver WHQL. Blow out your case for dust if needed. Try the benchmarks again.- kid-mid

Intel i7 4770K integrated GPU for office work.
that's a waste of a CPU... you could downgrade and then use those funds to possibly upgrade surrounding hardware. also you could go for a cheaper build all together and handle such intended tasks. -
Why update my mobo?
there is a list of enhancements in the BIOS update description, read up on that and decide if you want to. some say 'if it's not broke then don't fix it' and sometimes it's cool to go by that too. in the end it's your call.- kid-mid

also depending on the resolution the HD 7770 is not really a gaming card.
