i am looking onto getting a sound card, but im not sure if i need a headset matching the channel of the sound card

i followed several tutorials to overclock my 980, but then later went back to default settings and now there are blue squares showing up on program borders and certain desktop areas. What might be causing this? Could it have anything to do with me overclocking my cpu?
