[SOLVED] Upgrading PC. I have a MB and CPU, wondering what else I need

I shouldve been more clear, but my idea is to eventually get a GPU that is compatible with this new CPU and motherboard that I want to install. So something that would work on this ASUS p8z77 vlk, and i-7 CPU. I imagine theres gotta be a GPU out there that would be compatible with those and...

[SOLVED] Upgrading PC. I have a MB and CPU, wondering what else I need

I shouldve mentioned, my current desktop is still on Win 7 so I'm due for an upgrade to Win 10 anyways. So essentially, I'll just need to buy a new copy of Win 10 and apply it like it was a new PC installation? I can look more in to it via google, but what do you mean by full wipe?

[SOLVED] Upgrading PC. I have a MB and CPU, wondering what else I need

I built a mid range PC in 2013. It's been decent, but I found that the CPU I had (AMD 8320) couldnt quite keep up if I played a game and also tried to run OBS or add-ons to the game. So I then bought a used I-7 CPU from a friend as well as the motherboard it was connected to, an asus p8z77-v lk...

Just migrated data from SSD to SSD. SATA question

Samsung magician said to plug my new SSD into the port where my old one was. Is this necessary? Initially, I plugged my new SSD where the hard drive was. I got a read/write speed of 500ish. When I plugged SSD into the old SSDs port, it got cut in half. Is it ok if I plug my new SSD into the...

Trying to clone SSD to SSD. Samsung data migration is super slow.

Solution was for sure the one I picked. Thanks to USAF. It was a bad port on motherboard. plugged ssd into different sata port and my write speed is 500 now.

I have a Asus M5A97. Does it matter where I plug my SSD in?

Samsung Evo 500gb. Read speed is 530 write is a whopping 10. Someone mentioned it could be a faulty port or SATA cable. I also need to make sure AHCI is enabled from what ive read. I will try those solutions when I get home tonight. Really hope its not a motherboard issue or a defective ssd...

I have a Asus M5A97. Does it matter where I plug my SSD in?

Im seeing some people say it matters and some say it doesnt. All of them look to be labeled as 6gb. The thing is, SATA ports 1-4 are clumped together, and 5-6 are a couple inches above them. But they are all white and the ports themselves look identical. Im just making sure because I am having...

Trying to clone SSD to SSD. Samsung data migration is super slow.

alright thanks for the replies. Is it ok for me to cancel the data migration even though its at 5%? I will try the magician software to see the performance and I will also try plugging into a different port on the MB. I actually recently changed the port it was plugged into so maybe it is the...
