Question BIOS update made my pc go into a rebooting cycle

I had this issue on my TUF Gaming X570-PLUS (WiFi) today after updating to 1403. It would show the TUF Gaming logo for about 30 seconds, and then reboot... rinse and repeat. I ended up removing my Firewire PCIe card, and that solved the problem for me. Well, not really solved as now I can't...

Question Which HTPC or under the monitor case should I use?

I don't have a specs list, yet. I'm trying to figure out my case limitations first. If I cannot find decent size cases, I'm going to have to build a more moderate system to keep noise levels down. On a high level, I'm thinking something like: CPU: 6 or 8 core CPU GPU: solid 1440p / entry...

Question Which HTPC or under the monitor case should I use?

I want to build a gaming PC to pair up with my 4K TV. Most of the HTPC cases I've found (i.e. Silverstone GD09B) look too cramped for my liking. I would prefer the case to look like a piece of stereo equipment, but it also needs to be functional and not die from inadequate airflow. My TV...

Question Want to install Win 8.1 on Ryzen

Yeah, that should be perfectly fine. The sata cables can handle normal bends. If you're not applying any major stress to it, you're golden.

[SOLVED] Should I buy a processor without integrated graphics?

That motherboard has Intel LAN, not graphics. Your source material is wrong and probably a copy and paste error by the retailer. AMD motherboards will never, ever, ever, ever, ever support "integrated" Intel HD graphics unless the sky is falling and pigs grow wings. ;) Here's the specs-->...

Question Want to install Win 8.1 on Ryzen

In my experience, SATA cables are pretty fragile. I've had SATA cables bent near the connectors (pressed up against the window of the case) that worked for a few years, and then suddenly out of nowhere began failing and corrupting data on the drive. It's not a good idea for long term use...

Question Anyone else slightly disappointed by the new Ryzen?

I myself am still rocking a 3770k from November 2012. Every year I say to myself, "This will be the year I upgrade!" But that never happens. Every year I also ask myself, "Is this the year that my PC will stop booting on me when I come home from work?" One of the things to consider is that...

[SOLVED] What are the AMD GPUs that are going to support PTGI/Ray tracing after Driver Update?

RT has been introduced on a very limited scale for games, and memory requirements are lower. The exact opposite is true for professional ray tracing. That was my point. None of the current GPU manufacturers invented Ray Tracing. It's very old tech. We haven't seen it in games until now...

Windows is damaged scam ad on tomshardware.com

If you look at the first couple of posts I made, you will see that I did just that. I did not provide publicly post the link here as I did not want random users clicking on it and exposing themselves to malware. I also had to use Alt-F4 to force the browser to close the page. I don't use...

Windows is damaged scam ad on tomshardware.com

I appreciate the suggestion, but the second time this happened (June 3) was on a fresh install of Windows 10 (1903) and on a brand spanking new hard drive. And when I say fresh, I mean I was still in the process of setting things up. The drive was purchased on June 1. With my surfing habits...

[SOLVED] What are the AMD GPUs that are going to support PTGI/Ray tracing after Driver Update?

Unfortunately I have to run to work and I didn't dig too deep into the article, but they appear to be referencing the creation phase, not the final render. Final renders aren't performed on the fly. Final renders take insanely long times to complete, and are done at the end as it's very expensive.

[SOLVED] What are the AMD GPUs that are going to support PTGI/Ray tracing after Driver Update?

As far as I know, CPU is still the dominant force behind render farms in the movie industry. I've done research on this and I haven't seen any indication that this has changed or is going to anytime soon. If you have evidence to the contrary, please post the links as I am interested in reading...

[SOLVED] What are the AMD GPUs that are going to support PTGI/Ray tracing after Driver Update?

It's just a new pipeline inside the GPU. And ray tracing is all that pipe is good for. If your game doesn't have ray tracing features, that part of the GPU goes to sleep. And when the game does support RT, that part of the GPU has to share the same GDDR6 with the rest of the GPU. Right from...

[SOLVED] What are the AMD GPUs that are going to support PTGI/Ray tracing after Driver Update?

My understanding is storage devices designed for pcie 4 will benefit greatly. In regards to ray tracing, it has always been primarily a CPU task. And while GPU based real time ray tracing seems like a good idea, it has to share video memory with the rest of the scene. Ray Tracing is a memory...

About every 30 seconds my screen goes blank

Interesting. It could have been RF interference then. Your new cable might have better shielding, or tighter twisted wire pairs.
