Computer only showing 6gb of 8gb Memory Installed

What version of windows are you running? My guess is windows 7 basic? which is capped at 8gbs 2gbs for video card .25 is my guess for the memory I/O devices so that would put you at 5.75gbs left available for your ram. Here's a link that might help explain it...

New build won't POST after restart.

when you're installing the motherboard in your case are you making sure to put the standoffs in? When you say it won't post. Is everything turning on but just not posting. Or is it a dead stick in the water? Do you get any visiblity on the screen?

    Boot Issue

What power supply do you actually have? It's probally related to paperdoc's suggestion. I would be concerd you're power dimming your parts regularly which will shorten their life expetency. I've only really seen similar problems and they always pointed at the PSU being a poor grade PSU.

    Some help on 64bit upgrade

When looking at hard drives the things to keep in mind are dentisty of the platers and rpms. The fewer the platers and the higher densitiy of each plater will result in faster seek times. RPM of course helps with seek and write times but at the cost of heat and higher chance of mechinical...

First build, couple of big "uh oh" errors?

Wow. This is interesting. I'm not exatly sure what motherboard and cpu socket you have but in almost all of today's sockets that securing lever locks into place. Are you sure you're locking that arm all the way in (CPU - locking arm)? I have a hard time believing you pulled the cpu through...

    Some help on 64bit upgrade

Currently all the stated hardware will work just fine with any 64 bit windows OS. Really the currently build you have is pretty good. There's not much worth changing. The above poster's motherboard will not support the cpu you currently have. I'd also say the posted harddrive bit dated as...

    16:9 vs 4:3 vs 16:10 for Gaming

I personaly have two cons with the 16:9. 1) overall smaller area than 16:10. 2) It has always felt a bit distorted. I'm mostly concerd with the distortion. Is this something that just takes time for your eye to adjust to or is it something to just deal with? Anyone else make this jump and...

    $1500 rig, Power Supply questions

Crosair PSU's are in general very good and reliable. So I'd say go with the 650 unless you get some beefy graphic cards that would require more amps than it can produce. If you're more in favor of a multi-rail psu (to help with cable managment) you may go with an Antec PSU. They have some...

    16:9 vs 4:3 vs 16:10 for Gaming

What is your opipions on a gaming monitor ratio, 16:9 vs 4:3 vs 16:10. I'm currently in the market for a new monitor as my 28" hanns-G monitor blew (was 16:10) and was interrested in others opipions. Side question: I've always thought that 16:9 looked distored but after doing some research it...

    Core i7 GTX 295 build

I was reviewing your wishlist and list on the top of the thread and I would like to add my few cents. (not sure if this is still up to date) Unless your looking to push an overclock to 4.0ghz+ you won't be utilizing the classfied. You're paying for features that you don't need. I would...

    Computer switches off

What are the tempatures your reporting? This has every symptom of a CPU overheating (big clue: have to wait 5 minutes for it to come back on). You may want to try reseating your cpu heat sink and turning up your fans. Are you doing any sort of overclocking and are u using the default HSF...

    Resolution at Boot Up Issue

It could also be the driver for your monitor. Not sure if your using a generic one or if there's one that came with your monitor. Might want to look into that as well.

do you have a speaker hooked up to your motherboard to hear if there's a beep code helping narrow down the problem?
