Ok, so I created a thread here but had two big problems; 1.) I left too many options open, and 2.) put it too far in the future.

The goal of this thread is to please help me pick a power supply and video card to match my specs.

SO! Here is my rig that I am intending on building, and I would like to know what power supply would be the best for it.
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Blue RC-932-KKN3-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case
HD: Western Digital 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"
Monitor:ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 (ASCR 20000:1) Built in Speakers
Mobo: ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO AMD Motherboard
Disk Drive: ASUS DVD-E818A6T/BLK/B/G Black 18X SATA DVD-ROM Drive - Bulk (16.99)
RAM: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT51264BA1339
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
SSD (For loading Windows): Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2/64GB 2.5" 64GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

So, what power supply is suggested?
Also, what video card is suggested? I'm debating these five

in motherboard there is allways a fight between asus and gigabyte... chose the one u like better... i think is better the asus

Crosair PSU's are in general very good and reliable. So I'd say go with the 650 unless you get some beefy graphic cards that would require more amps than it can produce.

If you're more in favor of a multi-rail psu (to help with cable managment) you may go with an Antec PSU. They have some pretty good split rail PSUs

You may want to check the manufacturers website. Almost every board I have come accross is 1600mhz compatible (especially if it lists higher speeds) yet about 75% of them never seem to mention it. Also, RAM can clock down, so the fact you have 1600mhz, if for some odd reason it couldn't run at that speed it would run lower. Given its price and latency it would still be worth it

Don't be fooled by your mobo having HDMI - the only reason yours does is because it has onboard graphics. This is completely irrelevant once you put in your own GPU. The reason Mr.hoshos mobo has no HDMI is because it has no integrated graphics (which I see as a good thing as if a mobo has integrated graphics I am likely paying for it for no reason because I will be using my own card).

Haha, yeah this thread is updating faster than I can keep up (what with having to tab in and out due to being at work) I felt my post had started to get confused and make less sense and overlap wit what others said so I edited it. But glad it was of use to you before I changed it!

The Gigabyte 790 board is good. But, and I may be wrong, but I think it requires a Bios flash to update it to allow the Phenom 955 to work? If you are comfortable doing that then great, if not you can play safe and go with a board like the one I linked. Also, I am not sure if it is the same with AMD boards, but I know Gigabyte boards for Intel using USB/SATA III had issues when a SLI/Crossfire setup was used

I'm actually still having the problem of choosing which one to get. hahahaha. In the end i think it boils down to whether which you think will be able to provide you happiness. hahaha, after all you'll be looking at that case for years to come. If it helps the haf x does come with dust filters, which many have complained was the one thing they were looking for on the 932. Apart from that everything seems to be the same except the haf x has usb 3 ports on the front io panel.

For a modular psu you have the liberty to utilize only the cables you need, the unused cables are left unconnected. Unlike the non modular psu where you have the unused wires sticking everywhere thus possibly hampering airflow if cables arent managed properly. here's a link on toms that could help but its one year old http://www.tomshardware.com/news/power-supplies-psu,8016.html.

Ahahahaha I'm having difficulty keeping up with my own thread! But that's the insomnia. What you said clears up a lot of confusion, and the Asus board you suggested was also suggested earlier, so I definitely think I'll be going with that one. Also, no, I'm not really comfortable with doing an update like that. Like I said, my first build, lol :)

I am also going to go with the RAM you suggested. 6 bucks and more Eco friendly, RAM? Sure, why not.

@ Drexeus: For me, the front paneling was a huge issue. I love the 932's set up more because of the cooling factor and the frontside ports were a little better IMO.

gpu: $379.99
XFX HD-587X-ZNFV Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150490&cm_re=5870-_-14-150-490-_-Product

This one would do, you don't plan on using the 6 screen setup that some 5870 offers right? If not this would be the cheapest of the lot plus its xfx, so the warranty is there.

Go for it man, hahaha. Either way once you love the haf there's no other like it, hahahaha.

AHahahaha, IDK, I was looking at some legit Xoxide cases. And yeah, the 587x was actually a card that came up in my side by side comparison. Huge chunk of change, but no, no six screens for me ... yet.

Hahaha, with my own build i was originally planning on going with a 5770. It was around 190 i believe. Then i saw the 5830 at around 230 i said i could do that. after that i saw the 5850 at 290, i said i'd definitely get that. Had to stop there but was so tempted to go with the 5870, hahahaha. There's no end to it. If its too much the 5850 will suffice for quite some time. But if you have the budget go for the 5870, either way you'd be getting yourself a pretty sweet card.

same lol im in a higher lvl lol now i want a 5970 😀 (ohh and i never wanted the 5830 😛 lol)

Not big on His myself, and certainly don't buy OC'd cards - they charge way too much for very little extra - For $50 more you get an entirely better card (5870)

The 5870 is a more powerful card and handles almost everything you throw at it and XFX is a good brand so you cannot go wrong with it. If you can afford it then go for it. I persoanlly have a 5850 and I love it...but if I could have afforded the 5870 at the time I totally would have bought it.

Man, I know. I settled for the xfx 5850. i would have gone higher but id have to cut down my food budget if i did that. 😀

@ DreiHarteZero500 the link i gave you for the sapphire seems to be in stock at the moment.

This is what i like about tom's. So many people willing to share their time for people to be able to make informed decisions. On a side note, it also tends to make me want to change my build most of the time, hahahaha.

Checking this before I go to work.

First, I find it funny that you changed the ODD that you suggested, back down to the one I was originally using. Why change? Just a cheaper version of the same thing?

I also changed out the PSU. Saved me 30 bucks and I'm still getting the 750 I want

Still need to check the other components. DAMN IT THAT CHASIS LOOKS GOOD >.> And now I'm back to being picky with cases.
@ Drexeus: AGREED! I am so glad I came here. There is SOOOO much knowledge and people willing to talk with me.
