    i5-6500 Overheating (~100 Celsius)

Fixed! Thanks so much to both of you for the help - you saved me so much confusion and troubleshooting. I got a Cooler Master 212 EVO, and now the processor is running at really great temps, so I am super happy.

    i5-6500 Overheating (~100 Celsius)

Thanks to both of you...I've been troubleshooting for the last week+, so I really appreciate it! I actually just bought a Cooler Master 212 EVO (wanted to get a better cooler anyway), so I will install that and let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed.

    i5-6500 Overheating (~100 Celsius)

The temperature does drop to a reasonable level while idling (35-40s range). However once I do anything (even a file search), it rapidly climbs, reaching up to 100 degrees C. I will re-seat the fan and test. Thank you for the feedback!

    i5-6500 Overheating (~100 Celsius)

Brand new computer (which I built - first time building one from scratch), as of about a week ago. From day one it has been crashing while playing games, and even sometimes doing basic tasks like YouTube, etc. My build in case it's useful: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Xx6gBP I downloaded...

    Displayport to VGA doesn't work

Same problem for me. It's an old monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 920Nx), connecting to EVGA Geforce GTX 1060. Not sure if I have the wrong adapter or what? It says "Displayport -> SVGA Adapter" "DP 20-pin Male ---> SVGA HD 15-pin Female". When I plug it in the monitor just stay black and very...

Is this PSU good enough for my build?

So I already have it all hooked up (the final parts arrived today) - do you think it's a big enough deal for me to go through the return process and buy a new one? (I'd obviously rather not). The reviews looked good on pcpartpicker, and the price is about the same... is there a big difference?

Is this PSU good enough for my build?

PSU I am going to use: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/DbqdnQ/corsair-power-supply-cs550m My build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/kylecb/saved/#view=m66nTW I already have all the parts, but I was just reading some threads about PSUs, and it seems there is more than meets the eye when it...

Will a GTX 1060 fit in my MicroATX board?

@JustDvine: I would hope so, and I did use that site, but I know they have some errors and I wasn't sure if they would consider things like that. Fingers crossed that they were right!

Will a GTX 1060 fit in my MicroATX board?

Amazing, thanks man! I was stressing lol... I'm new to building computers. I was worried that the thickness of the card (with the fan making it thicker) would mean there was no space for it.

Will a GTX 1060 fit in my MicroATX board?

    I have a Gigabyte GA-H110M-A Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/hMvZxr/gigabyte-motherboard-gah110ma). I ordered an EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 (https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/pbL7YJ/evga-geforce-gtx-1060-6gb-gaming-video-card-06g-p4-6161-kr), but now I'm worried...

Building a PC - Should I get an SSD and CPU Cooler?

Awesome, thanks man. I guess I will pass on the CPU cooler for now, I can always get one later on if needed. I appreciate your help so much... it's so overwhelming trying to navigate through all the details of building a computer.

Building a PC - Should I get an SSD and CPU Cooler?

For sure, planning to - just making sure I have it all figured out lol. I just thought it through, and I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and get a new PSU and hard drive as well, because I don't really have a lot of faith in those 8 year old ones. Final question: I'm thinking I may as well...

Building a PC - Should I get an SSD and CPU Cooler?

Awesome, thanks again Mike - you're the man. Gonna get the EVGA 1060 because it's pretty much the same price as the 480 and others.

Building a PC - Should I get an SSD and CPU Cooler?

There are like 30 GPUs on pcpartpicker that use GeForce GTX 1060 chipset... they seem to range in price by like $70 - is there one that's better than the others, or how does it work? Same for the other ones (ex. Radeon RX 480). Thanks again for all the help Mike!
