I haven't seen or heard any issues with the 10xx series cards having issues with any of the 3rd gen processors.

Can't really find other threads asking about it or any proof of people having success doing it. I guess I would just go ahead and get it and see if it works. If not just make sure wherever you get it from has a good return policy. My guess is 70-30 that it will work.

Have you tried installing it through geforce experience? Like installing only the geforce program, then selecting update driver in geforce. This has fixed a lot of my driver related issues in the past

did you upgrade to windows 10 at any point? Even after a reset if you upgraded at any point in time you still will have a nvidia driver folder in the .old. Just find them and delete them. Uninstall you current MS generic driver and reboot. Then reinstall you gpu driver right away.

Download geforce experience only and not the driver. Then Let the geforce program update the driver for you
