    JAVA installation eliminated my GUI

I don't really know what that means.... I use this computer mostly to run audio applications (DAWs, samplers, audio editors, etc.) as a music composer, and rarely even go online with it. The only reason I did the update is I got irritated with the Oracle update box popping up every time I booted up.

    JAVA installation eliminated my GUI

I just updated Java on my 64-bit Windows 7 OS. Now when the OS boots up, all I can see is the cursor on a black screen. My first ides is to revert to previous Java version, but how can I do that without using the GUI?

Here is a link to finding out how to manage permissions/take ownership of files in Windows 10. After several days of utter aggravation, I found it simple to do once I found this forum page: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3841-take-ownership-add-context-menu-windows-10-a.html Hope this helps.

    High precision event timer disabled

Yes, it is the HPET giving the error message. When I try to update the driver, Windows tells me I already have the appropriate one. After your last post I downloaded & ran the latest chipset drivers installation file from MSI. I quadruple-checked all the specs so I'm certain it was the right...

    High precision event timer disabled

Hi, thanks for answering. No, bios only indicates enabled/disabled for HPET. The MB, which I just put in last week, comes with disappointingly few possible user settings in the bios (& I did make sure I had the latest update). In fact, the only mention of 64 I can find is under PCI Subsystem...

    High precision event timer disabled

Update: I found the HPET in my BIOS and saw that it was enabled. I disabled and re-enabled it, but it's still disabled in the OS. I use this computer as an audio recording studio. Sometimes, when I'm using particularly complex sound event, there are popping noises in the audio output. This...
