News Nintendo GameCube modified to run PowerPC Windows NT and Doom

Articles like these remind me a lot at what was published at anandtech its last 1-2 years - the article seems more or less just rephrased from somewhere else and a bit augmented with seemingly inconsistent/wrong information (windows 95, pre NT 3.5 comments). Can't wait to read the next...

News Samsung to cut foundry investment in half, to $3.5B, says report — Rivals expected to invest more

So they are more or less giving up - not good for us customers :(

News Windows translator makes PC run on Android — Fallout 4 demoed at 30 fps using Winlator ap

To cite the github page: "... with Wine and Box86/Box64" So actually those projects deserve the credit, they did almost all of the really hard word.

News China's SMIC foundry on track to produce 5nm smartphone chips for Huawei this year: Report

Anton Shilov, our expert for the chinese anti-sanction rebellion. I can't help but to miss the times when anandtech was about true hardware tests, instead of a handfull of freelance writers which most of the time just cite findings made by others.

News Huawei's sanctions-evading Kirin 9000S processor tested: significantly behind its Kirin 9000 predecessor that used TSMC tech

I am not sure SMIC and/or Huawei really depend on the income of selling those chips, there is a lot of state money involved ;) I tend to give feedback to companies / magazines, as I appreciate feedback when developing software myself. But to be honest I miss those times when tomshardware...

News Huawei's sanctions-evading Kirin 9000S processor tested: significantly behind its Kirin 9000 predecessor that used TSMC tech

But this repetitive "look how far they've come" style of the artiles is exactly what puzzles me. Their 7nm process is indeed a great achievement, and doing a 5nm-class process with DUV only is too - but to some degree this had to be expected and from a technological pov is no miracle. However...

News Huawei's sanctions-evading Kirin 9000S processor tested: significantly behind its Kirin 9000 predecessor that used TSMC tech

Strange, how much attention is drawn to China's chip industry here at tomshardware. When looking at the current newsfeed, out of 12 shown articles 3 directly relate to china's semiconductor industry - I can't remember seeing the same density when it comes to Taiwan's or South Korea's or US ever...

News Microsoft's 2023 ugly sweater lets you wear the famous Windows XP wallpaper

What I ment is that typically companies would have to pay for publicity like this, but thanks their marketing trick they got it for free. And its not just tomshardware, many german IT sites also have exactly the same article. - so just imagine what it would have costed to have this amount of...

News Microsoft's 2023 ugly sweater lets you wear the famous Windows XP wallpaper

I would say mission accomplished - they got a whole article on your site for free while they would otherwise have to pay quite a bit to get a featured article.

News Seagate Lists FireCuda 512N SSDs for Handheld Consoles and Compact PCs

I wonder how manufactureres will be able to keep 2230' prices as high as they currently are - there is simply no justification for selling low-end SSDs for twice the price of their 2280 counterparts, simply because components are soldered in a smaller PCB. It seems thanks to steam dock and...

News Conversation With ChatGPT Was Enough to Develop Part of a CPU

Awesome, Germany has no issues writing a 10B € cheque for Intel, but yet they hesitate to spend a few hundred Mio bucks on building their own solar industry. instead they seem to be perfectly fine to depend on china on this. it seems the war and the resulting lack of gas has not taught them...

News GPU Cooler Tested With Ketchup, Potatoes, and Cheese as Thermal Paste

I miss those real articles that where worth reading. and I miss anand too. these days, every time I check tomshardware all i see is "now product XYZ now for only $$ at Amazon" and "ketchup does well as thermal grease".
