[SOLVED] Is it time to replace my 5 year old H110?

Thanks for all your replies, Phaaze. I looked at some benchmarks at the Dark Rock Slim seems to be equal in size and cooling to the CM Hyper 212 Black which is a good 25$ cheaper. Also, can I get away with a low-profile cooler meant for mini/micro cases if I'm not overclocking -- rather than...

[SOLVED] Is it time to replace my 5 year old H110?

Cooler Master Stormstryker is my case - it's a big one. Socket 2011 motherboard -- so really I'll be looking for the best air cooler that I can get that is very low profile.

[SOLVED] Is it time to replace my 5 year old H110?

That's what I figured. I do move it around, often enough. I am gentle enough that I don't have to remove my GPU. Honestly I would just stick the stock cooler on the i7 since I don't even overclock it. I could even go for a middle ground - something that doesn't match a 280mm AIO performance but...

[SOLVED] Is it time to replace my 5 year old H110?

Yes, it still works but if I should just keep using it why is the warranty and damage coverage limited to only 5 years? All parts wear but the wear on something like this could be catastrophic. Is it realistic to expect for this cooler to last another decade from now?

[SOLVED] Is it time to replace my 5 year old H110?

i7 4820K ... basically running no overclock (3.7ghz) because I have 64GBs of RAM in this system and it was never able to run stable with an OC. I built the machine 5 years ago now... early 2014 and I am very concerned about the now out-of-warranty cooler. There are no issues with cooling and...

Question Adding more SSDs, outside of my current RAID 0 array + multi-OS.

I believe there are -- but I'm not really concerned with seeing the Win 7 drives in XP -- more that I can see the XP drive in 7 so I can copy files over from the intrawebz.

Question Adding more SSDs, outside of my current RAID 0 array + multi-OS.

Hahaha, true. The A: and B: drives on my Tandy 1000 are 360K and 720K floppy drives. I don't imagine I'll be using any on this system, though and I won't be ever booting from that one. I wonder though, once I have that 500GB drive set-up with the Windows XP install and then reconnect everything...

Question Adding more SSDs, outside of my current RAID 0 array + multi-OS.

So right now I have the 2x256GB drives at C:, the 1TB SSD as B and the 500GB as E all in Windows 7. So I'll just disconnect everything that isn't the 500GB drive and boot up with my XP disc and reformat/install it. I don't get a boot device option with this motherboard but maybe I need to...

    [SOLVED] 1/0.1% Lows MSI Afterburner

MSI Afterburner has this as part of their Benchmarking tool now as well as minimum frame rate. My understanding was that these metrics of frame times replaced minimum frame rates because they were "outliers". Yet, MSI Afterburner ends up recording some benchmarks for me that look like this...

Question Adding more SSDs, outside of my current RAID 0 array + multi-OS.

I'll check it out. Thanks for taking the time to advise me and the other folks posting here.

Question Adding more SSDs, outside of my current RAID 0 array + multi-OS.

True. I was thinking I would rather not have to enter BIOS but I suppose whether I enter BIOS or a Boot Manager it's the same amount of steps. Unless there are boot managers that give you direct short-cut keystrokes to one drive or another.

Question Adding more SSDs, outside of my current RAID 0 array + multi-OS.

Yup, 100% offline, will have ethernet/lan devices disabled. I still figuring out how to best set it up with what boot manager in order to have it automatically boot to Windows 7 unless I keystroke to boot to the other drive. And as far as the QVO vs EVO Samsung SSDs for additional Win7 space, I...

Question Adding more SSDs, outside of my current RAID 0 array + multi-OS.

I don't think I need to worry about TRIM on the XP install to be honest. The newer SSDs have garbage collection and it's not like I'm going to be doing a lot of writes -- I will probably install my collection XP games and won't see much more writes beyond save-game files. Not sure how you're...

Question Adding more SSDs, outside of my current RAID 0 array + multi-OS.

Heya, My current rig is from 2014 and I am running Windows 7 on two 256GB Samsung 840 Pros in RAID 0. My understanding that RAID 0 really doesn't have noticeable performance gains on SATA III SSDs like these but I believe I did this back then simply for savings -- a 512GB drive was more than...

[SOLVED] I need a new GPU, is 6GB VRAM enough?

Sure -- I'm not saying that a newer card with less VRAM won't outperform an older card with more. I'm saying that I played games not long after where my 760GTX was using over 3GB of VRAM and performing well. If I had gone with the 2GB model I would be having issues. To say that it is a waste is...
