The CPU still has life in it. My Older PC had a i7 2600 and a RX 580 and it ran great.

so double the price per core with less than half the cores as the AMD equivalent, all within spitting distance in terms of performance, for a significantly more money, and no upgrade path on the socket (most likely) and a 4/5 ... wtf toms

I would try it, But only bump it up buy ~100 mhz at a time and stress it, with something like adia 64 for 20 minutes. If it supports it, I would also be constantly looking at VRM temps. also I would set custom voltages, and when you get a Speed thats acceptable, bump the voltage down...
