When i do that i have no signal as well, thats why i thought maby it needed the install disc first

So i got a new GPU (ge force gtx 980 G1 gaming) to replace my current (ge force gtx 960). Problem is when i install it i cant get any signal out of my MOBO so that i can put the install disc in for the new one. What am i doing wrong on installing the new card? I know the psu is big enough...

I do not my last cpu was an amd. I will try and find a pc shop

Just like the title says are these compatibal? Or have i fucked myself? I know the socket ia right but i cant get anything on my monitor.
