Pro TIp... That's not only a 3080 cooler. It's pretty much the same cooler as the 6900XT 6800XT and 3070 Gaming X trio (I own all 3). I'd go as far to guess that the 3090 variant (if it exists) has the same cooler .

Sadly, I've been dying to spend money on 'upgrades' that I dont need, thankfully, I cant even get. I wanted a 5900x so badly, but, I'm looking at this as my 9900K paired to TridentZ 3600 14-15-15 (Asrock z370 Phantom Gaming K6) seem to be as good as any other build for gaming.

I've been running an overclocked (water cooled) 980ti for 4 or so years and I still cant justify an nvidia card. I paid $680 for my card, it gets about 18,000 3dmark in Firestrike (1080p). To me it's looking more and more like a Vega64 or AMD's next GPU are the only sensible upgrade.

I have a 8120 (3.1GHz stock) been running all day everyday @ 4.5 -4.6 GHz since nearly 3 years ago ... I'd say all these chips run safely at about 4.4 - 4.6GHz with good cooling. I play Battlefield 4 at about 45c on CPU temp.. video rendering tends to heat things up a little more ...
