Out with the GTX 970 JetStream and in with the GTX 1080 JetStream...

4K monitor all set up with my 1080p 144 Hz LG monitor. PC at night.

They have/are on about the AM4 upgrade kit for it... I wouldn't think that they would make an adaptor that allows it to only sit vertically, so I'm guessing that the plastic used for latch type coolers is in the way, if that is the case it's easily unscrewed.

I'm presuming you mean the plastic pieces designed to hold on some CPU coolers, that is stopping you from mounting it horizontally? If so, you can easily remove them.

If it does then I'd wouldn't think it would be bottlenecking it much, I've seen the G560 powering a 1080 Ti and in some games the performance difference wasn't too noticeable.

I would guess that perhaps 2 of the cores are disabled in bios. It is a genuine quad core it seems so should be showing 4 cores in Task Manager.

50 degrees at idle is pretty high, I'd be interested in seeing the temps when it starts getting a heavy load on it. It still doesn't cancel out that the PSU could be the issue, I wouldn't imagine that it is a well made one but I could be wrong (Hopefully someone who knows PSUs more finds this...

I don't fully understand the logic behind the X370 and on-board graphics support, surely the extra you'd spend, you could end up with a better processor lol, as these APU's will be 'tight budget' oriented why would someone purchase a high end board, but there's obviously a market for it.

I did actually mean to say pump>block>rad but I put them in the wrong order. Push or pull seems to have no significant effect other than sound, so if it is much louder than going back to pull may be more ideal.

I'm presuming you are using a laptop then? Out of those two the Seagate seems much better spec, though. The reliability of these drives, I'm not so sure of. Another possibility you could have is to get a 3.5 inch HDD enclosure and use a 7200 rpm desktop drive (3.5 inch) in it, if you have USB...

Probably looking somewhere around the £350-450 mark as a full build.

I would imagine pump then block then rad would be the most ideal way to order it, as the radiators job is to help cool the liquid.

Was there any smell of burning or other odd smell when this happened?

Unless they can prove that it was done after selling the stick to you, I wouldn't be too worried. Those sorts of things do happen in the manufacturing process and to damage that particular area without any other surface damage around it would also make it appear that it was a manufacturing defect.

G.Skill RAM is apparently fine with most AM4 boards. Same with Corsair LPX (Which is what I use).
