[SOLVED] CPU slows down when opening games

What kind of laptop? First, CPUs have differing max clocks depending on how many cores are active. So while the max turbo may be 3.2 (or whatever the specs say) it will likely run lower if all cores are active. Second, manufacturers like Lenovo like to custom tune their systems to limit power...

[SOLVED] Fastest RAID storage for single user with lots of data (>50TB)

That is correct. I eluded to it before: You've got to be careful of the limits on your RAID card though. I just checked the specs on the 9361-8i and actually I gave you an unrealistic scenario previously. Max drives per drive group on a 9361-8i is 32 (which is ok for your use case), BUT...

[SOLVED] Seagate BarraCuda HDD high pitched clicking noise

Back up your data and RMA it with the seller if you're still within the return period. Otherwise RMA it through Seagate's website. Seagate RMAs are pretty straight forward. You're just gonna eat a little shipping cost.

Question NAS storage comparison for Synology vs Overland

I know I'm not directly answering your question but I've deployed several QNAPs and they're fantastic. Huge feature set, a huge array of models to do about anything you'd need, and I've tied them in to AD before without issue. Have you looked at QNAP? For instance, if you're looking rackmount...

[SOLVED] 4TB Seagate Skyhawk for NAS/Hypervisor use?

Correct, it won't perform quite as well as the Ironwolf but the difference is likely in the eye of the user. For NAS use you're probably fine with either. When you start talking "hypervisor" though, it completely depends how many VMs we're talking about, what kind of performance you want out...

[SOLVED] System freeze while idle mostly ASRock 970 Pro3 r2.0

Yeah, first thing that came to mind when reading this was possible memory issue, then I saw 10GB RAM with mismatched RAM modules. Can't do that. Get the 2GB stick out of there, make sure the 2 x 4GB sticks are in the correct 2 slots on your mobo (per its manual) and see if things stabilize.

Question New Mobo and CPU overheating issue

Few questions: What make & model is the cooler? What fan connector do you have the cooler's pump connected to on your mobo? Does that fan header show any RPMs in the BIOS, and what are they?

[SOLVED] Help with cpu water cooler

Assuming you mean the H100i, there's a SATA power cable and a fan connector that are on one cable, that plug in to a connector on the H100i's pump. Plus the SATA power connector in to a SATA power cable in your machine. Connect that fan connector to your CPU fan header on your mobo. Then the...

[SOLVED] is intel i5-3470 compatible with a PRIME B250M-A?

You can not. The i5-3470 uses socket 1155 and supports only ddr3 RAM. If by "pcie support" you mean that you want to boot to an NVMe PCIe-interface SSD, that's likely not going to work either. You can however boot to a SATA SSD and then install a PCIe SSD in a PCIe slot on the motherboard...

    [SOLVED] i7 8700k 4.8 ghz on 1.2 V

Yeah you should REALLY invest in a better cooler to OC that CPU.

    [SOLVED] DDR3 overclocking issues

LOL. Are you actually seeing 10 FPS just from jumping from 1866 to 2100? That sounds high. It's one thing to go from 1333 to over 2133 but 1866 to that would typically yield much less increase. If you've got 1866 memory and can achieve 2133 stable, and have that kind of gain, you've won.

[SOLVED] Fastest RAID storage for single user with lots of data (>50TB)

Few considerations here. 1) You've got a backup and you're purely after performance, so I'm not sure I'd sweat using 50 over 60. 50 frees up a few more disks to add more spans to your drive group too. That said, if your gonna start going over 4TB disks, I'd definitely go 60. 2) To increase...

[SOLVED] What CPU is a great pair with my GPU?

I'd see if you can find a used 4790k, pop it on your current mobo and enjoy

    [SOLVED] i7 4790k vs i3 8350k

Here's the thing: 4790k in both multi threaded and single core performance, not to mention future proof. BUT, the jump from ddr3 to high speed ddr4 (like 3200) makes the FPS a wash. So from an overall system perspective they're probably almost identical for gaming.
