r5 230 does not require external power

usually ground comes from the negative wires of the motherboard, so its better to do a full isolated motherboard with plastic standoffs

on the first post you said r3 250, and that does not exist, so i assumed it was an R7 250 "got 4890 ati card planing on adding r3 250 ati card, and has i5 750 cpu." and yes the mb and psu will handle the cards

i have a similar problem on my system, no problems with an APU on games, etc but with a dedicated GPU all games simply freezes the system (black screen, pc keeps turned on, need to do a hard restart). solution, i grounded the house wall sockets and no more problems

that is called coil whining, and that happens because of the load on the pc, more load = more coil whining, solution? buy high quality components to get rid of it

haaa, so you have a reference 4890 with 2x dvi, in that case you can put the R7 250 with no problems :)

that does not make any sense two monitors on 1 gpu is going to behave exactly like two monitors on 2 gpus + your windows will be a bit slower with the 2 independent gpus

thing is you can't use the 4890 in pair with one R7 250, they are diferent cards. for dual GPUS (crossfire or SLI) the cards must be the same specifications (the brand may vary and the amount of memory too, but the architecture (the GPU itself) must be the same) to work you will need 2x R7 250...

plug your 7870 on the motherboard and do a BIOS reset on the jumper, and see if it works

i have a Asrock motherboard with same issue, after a new bios upgrade the problem was solved. think you just need to wait until a new bios is released.
