Did you reset your Cmos when after you installed your new cpu? Also, make sure everything is plugged in.

Now what parts weren’t working that you had to get new ones? Just wondering for future references.

If your date and time are always wrong then that’s a case of a flat cmos battery. A cmos battery is a battery on your motherboard. It looks like a watch battery.

To see if it’s a psu problem switch it with another one or test it. But careful, YOU NEED TO USE AN ANTI-STATIC STRAP, you don’t want to overcharge anything with static electricity, trust me. And I think you need to look carefully if all the pins are still in the cpu. If not it is probably stuck...

I agree. It sounds like a power supply problem. Try to test it with another one or a psu watt tester. USE ANTI-STATIC STRAPS! You don’t want to overcharge anything with static electricity!!!

This sounds like a graphics problem. Make sure your graphic drivers are updated. Go to device manager and click display adapters. Right click it and update driver. If it says updates are already installed then go to nvidia website and install the latest driver.

Did you recently do any hardware changes?

When installing your cpu, did you apply thermal paste? I had the same problem and it was because I had not put thermal paste on my cpu, totally forgot. My pc would turn on and it wouldn’t even boot, sometimes it would turn on and off and on and off.

If you upgrade to a really good graphics card with a not so good cpu, things won’t go well. I’d suggest upgrading your cpu first, then your graphics. If you get a ,idk, nvidia GeForce 1060 ti with a Intel dual processor, your cpu won’t be able to catch up with the gpu, so get a cpu first.

Another way to clear cmos is to find the big battery on the mother board and take it out for 5 minutes. Then put it back in. Make sure everything is unplugged, keyboard, mouse,etc. Also make sure the power switch is off and the power plug is out, to get rid of leftover electricity.

Ok so I reseated the battery because I didn’t have a jumper. The keyboard and mouse lit up and then turned back off but this time I get no signal. Ugh. I’m about to just give up.

Where can I find the jumper? I found clr_cmos but no jumper is on there. Do I have to buy one?
