It's not homework or research. It is an idea I had yesterday and wanted to hear some opinions. From my personal experience in running local ai models, vram is the limiting factor and the performance deteriorates significantly when the model starts overflowing into ram.

Based on hardware unboxed's review, the 5080 is 13% faster than the 5070ti at 1440p. Unfortunately any recommendation will depend on the price you can find these cards at, since MSRP isn't really a thing (unless the situation has changed). Edit: my personal opinion, without knowing the prices...

Would there be a market for an entry level "AI" GPU from either Nvidia or AMD that has lots of VRAM (24-48GB, not necessarily the fastest/newest kind) and mid-tier processing power while removing all other non-essential stuff like encoders/decoders, display outputs, etc? What do you think?

I have set up a wireguard server on my windows machine, however it doesn't work until I disable network sharing on my physical network adapter and reenable it. After a restart, sharing is shown as enabled on my network adapter but I can't connect to wireguard. Any idea?

Your motherboard choice seems solid. The only thing I would change is buing faster ram for the same price (or in this case cheaper): https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/YCF9GJ Make sure you enable EXPO in the bios to get the advertised ram speeds.

If you end up with a 1080p monitor I would say 7700XT. If not I would go for 6800. I have a 1440p monitor and some games (Warzone mostly) can fill up my 4070's 12gb vram even with dlss enabled.

I don't have any first hand experience with those chips but for $20 I think I would go for it for the longevity (2 extra cores).

I honestly don't know but I don't think the power off caused it.

What resolution do you play at? Edit: the only reason I would choose the 6800 over the 7700XT is for the higher amount of vram if you are gaming at 1440p or higher.

You memory channel A seems broken. That can be either the fault of the memory controller in the cpu, the traces in the montherboard, or the ram slots. Given that neither A1 or A2 work, I would say its the cpu's fault. You can try removing the cpu from the socket and reseating it to see if that...
