Yup, Decends is right. If the MB is working properly a water cooler will keep the temps down to nothing.

Both your intakes are blowing heat into the case though. You should also have an intake fan blowing cool air into the tank.

They should have at least gotten you a new heat sink if that one is damaged. What a joke. That is the place to start, get new cooler and see how it does. If you install cooler properly and it still happens, you need new MB and CPU.

Skylake is extremely fragile and I while I have done a lot of cpu installs I would not try to do one for skylake...the the manufacturer deal with that BS. I am glad you got it running though, amazing what a heat gun can do.

You don't even have a single normal intake fan, that is your problem. I have my radiator set as intake and this gets the best cpu cooling. It does bring back the heat to the case though. To offset this you need to have an exhaust fan AND an intake fan. My intake is right over the CPU and blows...

Your MB can have many things wrong and still post, such as shooting random amount of voltage to CPU to shoot it up to 95 degrees. But it makes the most sense to try the cooler first.

I've gotten a lot of them so I try to be careful. It is highly annoying, especially with short return policies you can wind up stuck.

Well you own the license anyway, so you can at worst just download the software from certain sites and methods. I have been able to activate after each upgrade so far but who knows, maybe my luck will run out. You can boot with a new MB sometimes and then fix the issues, but if you move from...

Tough to tell about DOA. I expect more DOA if it is an overclocker's board I guess, but if I see some 100 dollar board with huge DOA level then I would avoid it.
