So I bought this processor a while back and hadn't seen much of a difference plugging it in. I am using CPUID and I had originally seen it was only using 4 cores. I went into the BIOS, changed it so all cores are enabled, and had thought I had been set. Now I'm seeing that the Core Speed is only at 2812 MHz.
Also in my BIOS there are a few options:

AMD K8 Cool&Quiet control-----------[Disabled]
CPU core control------------------------[Manual]
One Core Per Compute Unit ---------[Disabled]

One last thing I've seen is that it's possible my motherboard may not be compatible with my CPU.

^^^ Seeing this link I am under the assumption that my motherboard is not compatible, but I just want to be sure I am reading everything correctly.

From CPUID:
Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology CO. Ltd
Model: GA-78LMT-S2
Chipset: AMD 780G
Southbridge: AMD SB700

Put it to me bluntly and in laymans terms, are there options i can use to fix this, or does my motherboard suck and my CPU is not compatible with it. Thank you so much for your time

Looking at my Graphics Card,(Nvidia GeForce GTX 960) I need "One 8-pin PCI Express power connector or two aviailable 6-pin PCI Express power connectors"
Would the motherboard you suggested to me work with this?? I'm really sorry for my lack of knowledge in the PCI thing. This is my first time upgrading everything on my PC.

I'm looking at this motherboard specifically http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813128898

I'm having trouble reading about these pins and bandwidth and such.

I usually ignore the DOA on Newgg and other sites; I bought motherboards that should have a high DOA and they work fine.

There are two 6-pin pcie power connectors. I think I finally understand this now. It's kind of like a light bulb wen off in my head lol. Anyways I ended up going with this motherboard. It should fit in my case but it'll be a pretty close fit.

Thank you very much for the suggestion and help! I'm really thankful for the fast responses!

I'm sorry if I should be making a new thread for this, but my motherboard finally came in and I've hooked everything up. I plug my computer in and the motherboard lights up! There's a big red LED on SB_PWR lit up. I have the really small 1 - 2 pin power, reset led, etc plugged into the Panel. I can't get my computer to turn on.
Bottom line, I have lights on the board, but no power

As sure as I can be. Unless there's really something missing?
I have the 24 pin power, 2 USB, and the small 1 - 2 pin PWR, Reset, LED things. I have the 4 x 2 cpu power as well. All plugged in. I went through the trouble shoot guide on here as well but still no luck

I think I may have found the solution. Multiple pins on my processor are bent out of shape. I'm so frustrated with everything.
Is there some tool I can use? Can I take it somewhere and have it done for me by a professional?
Am I screwed and should just give up and kick out more money for a new one? I'm at a loss right now. Any help is appreciated at this point

You can try to bend them back but it's difficult to do without bending more. You can take it to a jeweler and they can usually fix it. Some will do it for free. You might have to buy a new cpu. If only 2 pins are bent you can get the rma. Use a really small 1 way screw driver. Just don't bend the pins a lot because if you do they will break off.

The FX 8000 series and 9000 series are only good on 990FX chipsets. The 990FX boards have the 8+2 VRM design that can handle the power hungry 8000 and 9000 series CPU's from AMD. The 970 chipsets only feature a poor 4+1 VRM phase design. The only exception to that 970 chipset rule is the GA-970A-UD3P from gigabyte. But even that 970 FX chipset does not do well judging by its 3 egg total review.

Two 990FX chipset boards i would recommend would be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131877&ignorebbr=1 Asus Tuf Sabertooth 990FX or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131851&ignorebbr=1 Asus M588FX PRO R2.0

Those two boards can deliver enough power and even have a little room for overclocking. But be careful if u do want to overclock.

I've straighten all of them out and it looks pretty damn good. But when putting it in, I can't seem to get it to lock. I'm lining the gold triangles up, but that thin silver bar that you have to put back down once the processor is in is getting no pressure whatsoever. I can actually pick up the processor and take it out of the case when that silver bar is "locked"

So it won't lock down at all? Are you sure it's going in all the way?

I've tried pushing and wiggling a but without ruining the pins. It doesn't feel like it's going in all the way either, but my pin appear to be absolutely straight.

I had one like that once and I had to use firm pressure to get it in all the way. I had unbent the pins like you did. Are you absolutely sure one isn't bent all the way down?

100% absolutely sure none are bent all the way down. Ive decided on taking it to a professional and have them let me know. I'll post here when I get it back and let everyone know what's up

Attention everyone. Everything is all good and working. The issue was that I wasn't pushing hard enough on the CPU, but the main issue is that the Reset Pin had to be UNPLUGGED since the pins were different. Like there were 3 pins, but the middle didn't proved power or something or other?? But it still works. I don't quite understand it, but 100 dollars later and everything is all good.
