News Why parts of Tom’s Hardware now have a paywall

If only Tom's were the only website in the world that wanted money to survive. Put the entire web behind a paywall but of course all advertising will then disappear right.

News Intel prepares for Nova Lake CPUs with new Linux support — retiring 20-year-old 'Family 6' designation in favor of 'Family 18

Same here. I feel if Panther Lake executes without issues it will be a superb mobile offering and I'm looking forward to the top tier 4P+8E+4LPE+ 13Xe in the 45W range with LPDDR5x 8533 would be quite a beast. I'm also prepared to hold off on Zen6 until I see Nova Lake. Nova Lake Ultra 7 with...

News AMD's Z2 Extreme flies past Intel's Lunar Lake in new gaming benchmarks — MSI Claw 8 running at 17W favors the Z2E by roughly 8.5%, lead drops to 6...

I'm not impressed by Strix Point at all or the update RDNA3.5 iGPUs. Panther Lake will be a massive upgrade over Lunar Lake though not specially targeting U class alone. A Panther Lake U (rated for 15W) which will get 4P+4E (0LPE) and 8Xe3 would probably be > 20% faster (IMO > 30%) than Lunar...

Review Adata XPG Lancer CUDIMM RGB DDR5-9200 review: Bleeding-edge memory with bragging rights included

You can be assured Zen 6 will officially support CUDIMM as AMD has already stated Zen5 could support it. But that will mean new MB's and make Zen6 a 1 gen product essentially, if you want CUDIMM.

"Although we might not be quite ready to revolutionize chip making with the techniques outlined in this study" We are ready to hype the crap out this before we even have actual results.

News Eco-friendly 3D-printed house uses soil, not cement — building still scores top earthquake resistance rating

No we do. not want to revive that 19070's style monstrosity. Anyway this is a modern twist on mud brick homes, just far more versatile.

News Positron AI says its Atlas accelerator beats Nvidia H200 on inference in just 33% of the power — delivers 280 tokens per second per user with Llama...

Here's hoping that the current brain-dead brute force approach eschewed by Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, Telsa etc, is soon outlawed just on the basis of electricity consumption, allowing a new bunch of smarter players to thrive.

I hope betting the entire house on AI blows up in his face. Another wannabe AI mercenary that missed the boat by a decade and despite saying he doesn't think Intel can catch up, is betting everything on it.

Review Alienware AW3425DW WQHD QD-OLED review: Near-perfect color and premium performance

Hard to fathom how the low pixel density isn't con. If this review is prioritising colour accuracy, it's surely implying it's also productivity focused monitor, not just a one trick gaming monitor. Colour gamut and accuracy mean almost nothing to gamers.

News Nvidia N1X SoC leaks with the same number of CUDA cores as an RTX 5070 — N1X specs align with the GB10 Superchip

So Moore's Law is Dead was right. 6 months ago he said Nvidia insiders told him they were going for AMD's jugular and wanted to dominate Strix Halo. If these specs are in final silicon, this would really put a cat amongst the pigeons, even more so with strong rumours Medusa Halo is cancelled...

News AMD CEO says U.S.-made TSMC chips are more expensive, but worth it — costs 'more than 5% but less than 20%' higher than Taiwan-sourced alternative

Of course it's worth it, she's not paying the price, higher costs are born by the consumer, profit margins will never shrink.

Tan and the board need to be removed immediately if they are to save Intel. Tan has been talking down Intel since day one, sacking staff like there's no tomorrow and portraying Intel as a third rate lost cause to anyone that will listen. I'm absolutely gobsmacked the board is playing along.

Review G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 is the current top 96GB memory kit for AMD CPUs — Trident Z5 Neo RGB C26 2x48GB Review

Bizarre headline indeed. Literally provides no performance improvement over CL32/CL30 and often comes last and will cost a lot more for what benefit? They are other brands offering 96GB kits with low latency too.
