Tried changing the voltage to 1.35 in BIOS. No luck, thanks for the suggestion though. I think that rgd1101 has the answer to my issues. Since the board only supports a total of 16gb and has four slots I doubt that it supports 8gb on one slot. So i might need to change kits.

The gigabyte site says ... "4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory" in the specs for my MB. Could the problem be that the new RAM is low voltage, ie. 1.35V?

I recently bought a 16 gig kit of kingston hyper-x DDR3L ram. My PC wont boot up with it though. Could this be because my q9400 cpu doesn't support ddr3l? or does that not matter?
