    New Computer Wont stop restarting

First thing I would try would be another power supply(doesn't have to be that monster 1200 watter I wouldn't think, just a 'known good' one). If the same thing happens, I'd RMA the motherboard. I think the psu and mobo are not playing nice.

    Freezing Continues

Have you flashed the BIOS to the latest version? I recently built a system with a Gigabyte board that would randomly lock up. A BIOS flash did the job. Good luck.

    New build, total lockups

Apparently it was the BIOS on the motherboard. After checking the timing on the RAM (ok) and the voltage (not ok- was 1.80, should have been 1.9 for the Corsair memory), I went thru flashing the BIOS. So far so good. Reloaded Warhammer and the patches without a hitch, and it runs so smoothly...

    New build, total lockups

Thanks to you both for the responses. I don't think it would have occurred to me to check out what you are suggesting... Not at home right now, so I can't try things, but I did look up the RAM voltage and timing- should be 1.9v for the RAM. I know I saw that in the BIOS that it was at 1.82 or...

Upgrading Dell 8250 to 8300? or to 8400?

Yes, the budget sure went up! :o I bought a pair of the 8250s back in 2003 and IIRC they cost about 950 each- but that was with monitors etc and a year or so of Dell support. But it's pretty comparable really. All the parts arrived yesterday, all looks well. Hopefully will start the build...

Upgrading Dell 8250 to 8300? or to 8400?

Thank you for the response, itadakimasu. My bad on the ddr reference- I meant ddr2. 1 gig of RDRAM is ~$300, and 1 gig of ddr2 is about $35 these days. Your last paragraph, in conjunction with some further research I did on the Warhammer Alliance site, pretty much seals the deal on not going...

Upgrading Dell 8250 to 8300? or to 8400?

Present specs- 2.4 P4 processor, 1.25 gig RDRAM, GeForce 6600GS 256MB vid card, 250W power supply. After tweaking video settings to try to ease the load on the CPU any way I could so I can play Warhammer Online, I've come to the conclusion I need a faster processor. Money's tight, so I am...
